Barbara Schauer Founder of Weaverville Yoga, Lead Teacher Anahata Yoga, 50+Yoga See the Anahata practice on YouTube here.
Barbara lived with anxiety and depression from childhood. An artist whose spiritual life had already taken her to India, she lived more in her mind than her body. In 2001 she walked into her first Anahata Yoga class with Ana Costa. From the first Savasana, she knew she’d found something she hadn’t known to ask for.
In one of those early classes, she felt a dark wave of depression building. She followed Ana’s gentle guidance through a forward bend and felt it slide off like heavy mud. When she stood up, all she could think was, “I want this for everyone.” She went on to train as a teacher with Ana. Read more...
While she was teaching in Asheville, a friend brought Barbara to Weaverville for lunch, and she wondered why such a charming, artistic town had no yoga studio. A door with a black canvas awning on Florida Avenue caught her eye. Three years later, she gathered teachers to open Weaverville Yoga in 2009, and an agent found them a space: that very room. Today the studio is upstairs at 3 Florida Avenue, looking out on the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Students here asked for yoga that would help them age well, with confidence in body, emotions and spirit. That became the heart of Barbara’s teaching. She lives in Weaverville with her husband, Jay, whose support made the studio possible, and she still paints.
May yoga awaken your heart, uplift your spirit, and do honor to your body. Namaste.

Meg Moore Ashtanga Vinyasa, Fundamentals of Yoga
Meg began practicing yoga regularly in 2012 at local studios in Washington D.C. After years of practice, in 2017, she completed her first 200-hour yoga certification in Integrated Vinyasa through the Colorado School of Yoga. Upon completing a 200-hour Ashtanga Vinyasa YTT (Yoga Teacher Training) in early 2022 at One Breath of Yoga Ashram, Meg felt an even deeper connection to the practice of Ashtanga and understood it as a way to help us discover and reconnect to our truest selves. She had a strong desire to share the Ashtanga lineage with others and began teaching in Weaverville, NC. Now, after recently completing the 300-hour Ashtanga Vinyasa YTT through the same Ashram, she feels the fire of the practice fully alive inside her heart. Meg believes in the power of yoga to bring consciousness and love into every aspect of a practitioner’s life. She strives to share Ashtanga in a way that supports its accessibility for every body while maintaining the integrity of its traditional roots.
When not practicing or teaching yoga, you can find Meg learning to play the harmonium, hiking and exploring the nearby mountains and rivers, or serving delicious food at a local restaurant.

Nichole Fox Restorative Yoga, Morning Yoga and Meditation, Feel Good Yoga
With 23 years as a massage therapist and extensive training across multiple yogic lineages, Nichole brings a deeply integrated, therapeutic, and heart-centered approach to her teaching. She has trained with Bhavani Maki (100 hours), Yoga on the Inside (200 hours), Deb Buck in Hatha Yoga (200 hours), and in Kundalini Yoga (220 hours), and is currently completing a 200-hour Nada Yoga training in mantra, Sanskrit, and raga-based music.
Nichole’s journey with yoga began as a way to relieve the tension and bound tissue accumulated through years of deep-tissue bodywork. As a trained Rolfer, she immersed herself in the anatomy and alignment of asana to soften fascial patterns, support healthy nervous system function, and open pathways for prana to flow more freely. Over time, her path expanded into the psycho-spiritual and energy-based roots of yoga. Sensitive to subtle energy from a young age, Nichole has spent decades studying the human energy field, the chakra system, and the deeper teachings of the Patañjali Yoga Sutras. She also draws on training in the neurobiology of trauma, offering students a grounded way to regulate their nervous systems and unwind long-held patterns in their bodies and minds.
A lover of nature and a devoted student of yoga’s origins, Nichole is inspired by the rishis and rishikas who learned through breath, observation, and communion with the natural world. Her classes weave anatomy-based alignment, nature-rooted yogic philosophy, mantra, and compassionate presence into spaces that are both therapeutic and soul-nourishing.
Before moving to Weaverville, Nichole led a six-piece kirtan band in Colorado, sharing the heart-opening power of mantra meditation. Chanting remains one of her deepest practices and an offering she loves to bring to her community.
As a healer and space-holder, Nichole offers a warm, grounded, and deeply supportive environment where students can soften, listen, regulate, and reconnect with their original essence. Nichole is an exceptional and compassionate massage therapist - she may be contacted here.

I started practicing regularly and noticed a big difference in both my physical and mental well-being. The yoga teachers I had inspired me to pursue my teacher certification and combine my love of yoga with my career in teaching. I received my 200-hour certification in 2021 from the Satya Life School of Yoga in Milwaukee WI .Read more...
